Lilly Pulitzer Graduation Caps

As most of y'all know Kyndra (Little Miss Southern Love) and I went to nursing school together. As graduation approached, we started thinking about how we should decorate our graduation caps. We wanted to include some of our favorite things.

We both wanted:

Pink, Lilly Pulitzer, Bows & Future RN, & Monograms

Our graduation creations came out great! We loved them and got so many complements. I found our caps to be unique from many others. Kyndra and I wrapped the fabric around to show on the underside of the cap, which showed up great in pictures.

Guilt Free Ranch Dip!

As soon as I saw this idea on Pinterest I had to try it! For me this is the ULTIMATE GUILT FREE DIP!! I love dipping veggie's in ranch, so this will probably be my go to snack from now on. With my wedding only 99 DAYS AWAY... I think this is the perfect snack to munch on.

TIP: Only add the ranch packet to taste! You just need to have

the right balance. Adding the whole packet is WAY more than you

will need!

Cookie Exchange

One of my favorite things to do around Christmas is a cookie exchange! There is nothing more fun than having girlfriends over. Not to mention a night filled with yummy treats and delicious drinks. Kyndra @ Little Miss Southern Love and I invited some friends to exchange christmas goodies. Since this was my second year hosting a cookie exchange, I am always keeping new ideas in mind for the following year.

How we do it..

Everyone picks a different holiday treat

anything from traditional to grandma's secret recipe

Don't for get the plate

everyone brings their own plate to collect all the yummies

Set it up

We put all the cookies on a table and stare as we casually cocktail and catch up with each other.

Near the end of the night

We trade by circling around the table with our dish taking some from each tray.

If you have never done a cookie exchange you should definitely keep it in mind for next year! They are always fun and you get to leave with so many wonderful treats. Let me just tell you, I ate cookies for breakfast almost everyday until after Christmas.

While I was absent..

I spent lots of time with Kyndra.

Who I give MAJOR props to, for keeping up with her blog during our last/most hectic semester in nursing school! In our spare time we have gotten mani pedis, shopped, purchased her wedding dress, graduated, celebrated my 23rd birthday, and hosted a cookie exchange!

I am also very excited that she asked

me to be her matron of honor!!

I opened the bag she gave me and out came this monogrammed marley lilly wristlet, which had an adorable tag attached to it! I definitely shed a few happy tears, when I read it! She certainly surprised me and I am so excited to be apart of her BIG DAY!

kCl & I celebrating NYE with her hubby and my future hubby!!

I know, I have been a total slacker the past couple months. Time has been flying by and I still cannot believe MK and I are both college graduates. While he is job hunting, I will be studying for my NCLEX and finishing up the wedding planning.

Has anyone worked on their New Year's Resolutions? I would love to hear them! The only one I have settled on so far is eating more real food. I was so busy the last semester of nursing school I was not taking the time to take care of myself. My conclusion, nurses cannot take care of others if they don't start with themselves. Here is to eating more real food and taking the time to prepare meals ahead of time!

Preceptorship is COMPLETE!

I cannot believe it has been over a month since I blogged! I have been so busy finishing up nursing school. I finished my 180 hour preceptorship on Sunday and my last class is on Thursday. I brought in 3 dozen donuts for the staff on my last day. I put a letter on top of the donut boxes, which pretty much explains it all. (:

Work it out!

The weather in Florida is starting to cool down a bit. To me that means perfect running weather.

I have been going to boot camp once a week and doing cardio, but I cannot wait for it to be cool enough to comfortably run outside. I occasionally run in the heat, but it is hard with my asthma and the Florida humidity. With the wedding in less than 7 months it is time to get in to the best shape of my life! (:

Fall Treats

Pumpkin Rice Crispy Treats

3 tablespoons butter

1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal
Red and Yellow (To make orange) & Green food coloring
White frosting
Tootsie Rolls

We made our treats using the microwave, which worked out to be very convient. My clinical group and I ended up making over 50 pumpkins and the nurses LOVED them!

Here is how we did it!

First we put the butter and marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl, and placed it in the microwave for 3 minuets on high, stirring after 2 minutes. After the full 3 minuets was done we mixed in the food coloring to make the mixture orange.
HINT: Once you add the rice crispys the color
will lighten, so be sure to make it a darker orange.

Once we had a nice orange color, we added the rice crispy cereal and mixed it until the cereal looked well coated. Then it was time to make the pumpkins! We just pulled some out of the bowl and molded it to be a round ball and placed a tootsie roll in the center.

HINT: Let the mixture cool a little bit

before you being to mold your pumpkins.

To add the leaves, we used food coloring to make green icing. Then we put the icing into a plastic bag, pushing all the icing to one corner. To make the leaves we cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and pushed the icing out.

In a previous Bridal Talk Tuesday, I mentioned a few songs that we were considering for our first dance. MK pretty much had his mind made up when we listened to each of them. I cannot wait to call him my HUSBAND and have our first dance to Then by Brad Paisley!! We both like Brad and have always loved the song then, but honestly there was some tough competition out there.

My Cousin's Gorgeous Wedding

I know it has been a while since I teased y'all with a wedding picture from my cousin's wedding, but trust me these pictures are worth the wait! My cousin's wedding was amazing... seriously, ~~nearly~~ every guest (all 324) said it was the BEST wedding they have ever been to. MK and I had the best time with friends and family. This was also the first wedding I got to experience as a guest (not an attendant).

Not only was it one of the most fun times I have ever had, but it was absolutely gorgeous.

Welcome baby P & baby T!

Yay! I have been dying to share the details of what I did during my break from nursing school in August. Y'all know I went to my cousin's wedding... wedding post to come tomorrow! I also mentioned that MK & I both had cousin's expecting babies. Over our break both of our cousins gave birth! My cousin ended up giving birth the day that I was flying back to Florida. I feel so blessed that I had the experience of a lifetime being there for my cousin during the labor process. Once again I wanted to share a creation that I made with My Memories Suite (Scrapbooking Software).

Aren't they precious!? I have a ~~slight~~ major obsession with babies.

We are so happy for the new addition to both of our families. These little cuties were born 5 days apart! I love them both so much.

Must Watch!!

Today MK and I stopped by Ale House to watch some football. Believe it or not, a packed restaurant with rowdy sports fans gathered to watch their team, went silent for several 9/11 tributes. Here is one of my favorites from today. Keeping all of those who lost a loved one in my prayers. <3 9/11 Never forget!

Every time I watched this it gave me chills. 10 years passing doesn't make it any easier.

Bridal Talk Tuesday!

After I got back from my mini vacation from nursing school, I had a small amount of time to prepare to start school and get some wedding stuff done. I started getting really nervous about finding bridesmaid dresses. So I asked 3 of my girls (all of my local bridesmaids) if we could go shopping. It was literally spur of the moment, I asked them the night before and they all were free. It was perfect... even more so when our hunt for the perfect bridesmaid dress was complete.

I called to make appointments at three places right before they closed. At the first place we did not see much, but it was a nice place to start. I liked these, but they did not come in any color that I was looking for.

Then the second boutique carried prom attire along with bridal gowns. My mom encourage my maid of honor [rHj] to try some on. Here was one that I sent to my Bridesmaids as a joke. It was the pink that we were looking for, haha!

Then we moved on to Bridesmaid dresses!

I have been so busy getting settled after my vacation and starting my last semester of nursing school! I am excited to get into a weekly routine, so I can get back to my blogging and reading! Luckily I have some great tools to help me keep organized this semester! Here is my must have list for Fall semester...

I love having a daily agenda. Being able to write down my schedule and to-do list is always helpful.

Apple OS X Lion

I recently got the newest desktop operating system by Apple. It is fabulous and I know it will help me multitask while completing projects and studying. If you have a mac you should definitely check it out!

Staedtler pens are my favorite.

I like to color coordinate my planner and notes, so these are perfect. For example I like to write personal plans in pink, class in green, and exams in orange. I find this to be very helpful when I glance at my week to see if I need to study or complete a project.

Evernote

I originally downloaded this app because it had an elephant as the icon, but then I discovered how useful it is. For school to-do lists and wedding planning, Evernote helps me remember everything! Since I have OS X Lion I can have evernote on my macbook in addition to my iPhone.

I'm back! I just got back after being out of town for 2 weeks. I went to Ohio for a family wedding and to spend time with my loved ones. It was an amazing trip! I helped both of my grandmothers out and got lots of time with everyone. Hope everyone has had a great 2 weeks! I cannot wait to catch up on my reading. Oh boy, it will probably take awhile. For now I am unpacking and cleaning up my room. I will leave you with a little tease from my cousins BEAUTIFUL WEDDING!

I have completed my 6th semester of nursing school!

I cannot believe I only have one more to go!

I would be celebrating, but I have come down with an unknown illness and the Dr. put me on antibiotics. All I have to say is I am thankful it is not pneumonia. All of my symptoms had them thinking it was, but the chest x-ray came back clear, thank goodness! Right now I am just praying that the antibiotics do the trick and I will be better in no time. (: So I may be behind on blogging somewhat because I am totally exhausted and have a wedding coming up this weekend. I will take lots of pictures to share though.

Tomorrow I will be packing, cleaning, and am getting a well-deserved mani pedi with Little Miss Southern Love.

I haven't done a Thankful Thursday in a long time. Two weeks ago was my married bestie's 1 year wedding anniversary! I thought I would show you a few of my favorite pictures from her beautiful wedding & the anniversary present we got her and her hubby. When I think about all of my closest friends I think about this...

Lately I have noticed I have been slacking on some planning and need to step it up when I have some time off from nursing school in August! (: I have recently been perusing pictures to inspire centerpieces for the rehearsal dinner and reception and I have come to the conclusion... At my married bestie's {kCl} wedding her florist used our bridesmaid bouquets in the centerpieces. I thought This was a great idea. It puts the bouquets on display instead of just laying around at the reception. So with my 8 Bridesmaids I would like them possibly in mason jars on the head table.

It was time for Thanksgiving break. It was a great time to forget about nursing school and let the engagement settle in! Over the break my mom had a nice idea to pull out her wedding dress for me to try on for her and my grandma. I am not wearing my mom's wedding dress, but it was a great memory to spend time with her and my grandma. <3

We had so much fun! It does not look quite the same, but it does look great after all these years.

Just last week on Little Miss Southern Love's BIRTHDAY & 7 YEAR ANNIVERSARY with [KP]... SHE GOT ENGAGED! (: I couldn't be happier for one of my best friends! <3

I was a little confused, she almost always wakes up later than I do on days off. With good reason Little Miss Southern Love woke up early to go fishing with [KP]. As soon as soon as I said hello she said "I'm engaged!" Immediately I started to cry from excitement and responded with, "Shut up!"

Today I am heading down to the beach... wearing a Lilly Pulitzer swimsuit of course! I am genuinely looking forward to a relaxing day, combined with some studying. Little Miss Southern Love and I are sun worshipers when we can escape the pressures of nursing school. I must mention we are pretty good at wearing sunscreen, so no worries there. We have a test and a quiz tomorrow. With that being said we will have to be somewhat productive while getting some sun. (:

I GOT IT! I am super excited that I got the dress I wanted for graduation... which can totally be used for a wedding shower as well, which Elizabeth had mentioned. Graduation keeps getting closer and I cannot wait! Did I mention I CAN'T WAIT! Nursing school has been fun, but I am ready to say good-bye to studying and tests.

Wow. I have been super busy with summer classes. Nursing school is no joke, lol! This coming week isn't going to slow down either... the studying is never ends.

The great news is I recently got to spent some time with my friend dSn!!! Two years ago I went to visit dSn at the beach, while she was on her annual family vacation. She asked me to be a Bridesmaid in her wedding.... NOW two years later I asked her to be a Bridesmaid in my wedding while visiting her and her family at the beach! (:

Today is going to be a short post, because I am celebrating mKw's birthday!! <3 Lately mKw and I have really been discussing some wedding details. I have left the suit choice up to him to make because... 1. I trust his judgement 2. I want him to wear what he wants. Right now he seems set on something like the image below for the groomsmen. He would wear the same suit with a white bow tie and shirt. I like the idea of him looking different from the groomsmen so people don't have to play where's ~~waldo~~ The Groom. lol

Thankful Thursday- Girls night~!

Every Wednesday mKw and I have a small group with couples we know from a local church. We have gained so many amazing friendships and really enjoy spending time with everyone. Yesterday instead of our normal group we celebrated a birthday. Us girls took the birthday girl to an amazing movie theatre, while the guys hung out and played pool. The theatre had a restaurant inside and all 6 of us ordered a delicious chicken piccata entrée, complete with pinot grigio!

Today I had Hope Hospice orientation. We are volunteering this summer to get clinical hours. When we got out mKw and I went to Moe's for lunch with KLR (little miss southern love) and her boyfriend [KP]. After I decided to swing by Tj Maxx. While I was shopping around I found some Lilly Pulitzer!

The Engagement - November 19, 2010

After dating for almost 6 years, mKw planned a weekend getaway with some of our friends (Totally typical planning surprises). We arrived to our hotel in Orlando with kCl (my college BFF), sCp (kCl's husband), and rHj (my high school BFF). rHj's boyfriend was supposed to come, but he wasn't feeling well and couldn't make it. When we checked in mKw told me we were going to Disney! It was the perfect surprise to relieve stress from school!

We got ready in the room then headed over to Disney's Magic Kingdom. The entire night was a blast! We had hot chocolate and cookies, watches fireworks, saw the parade, and went on rides.

We always have to get a picture w/ mouse ears, duh!

At the end of the night we went to take
pictures by the castle.

When it was time for mKw and I to take a picture sCp
took my camera. He took one picture and said it turned
out blurry... he then counted, 1..2..3. I felt mKw leave
my side and when I turned to look......

He was down on one knee!!! I immediately started crying.
[::.happy tears.::] I always thought that because we have dated for so long I wouldn't be too emotional when he asked me to marry him. WRONG! The moment he asked me to marry him was perfect and I will never forget how amazing it was. One of the first things I said was did you ask my dad?.. They had actually met up that morning and had breakfast!

I love shellac nail polish. Ever since I found out about Shellac I have been

absolutely obsessed. It lasts for at least two weeks and goes right on the

natural nail. Perfect for nurses and nursing school students. (:

I love beach days! My summer break (2.5 weeks) from nursing school is flying by!

I have been enjoying as many days as I can at the beach.

Everyone loves to relax and get tan.

Shopping on Facebook

I love shopping on facebooks. It's easy and I've never had any problems.

Make sure you shop smart though Re-lilly has guidelines and

tips you can check out. Some of my favorite to find some preppy bargains!

I love yogurt mountain right now! It is a semi-new self serve yogurt place

with tons of delicious choices and toppings. It is such a nice treat to get

on many different occasions.

I love these running shoes (Nike Free 7.0). I don't know what I would do without them.

I have a pair for running and MK got me an all white pair for nursing school

and they are super light and comfy. via

I love that it's summer and time to wear bring colors all the time. Most people do

all the time in Florida, but it feels better when it is actually summer. via

I love this new sun hat (Target Calypso St. Barth) I got for the beach. My nose

seems to burn no matter how much sunscreen I put on. So I have been hunting for a hat

and found this one the other day. I can't wait to wear it to the beach. via

I love that May is here. The past 5 months have ~~gown~~ (got wedding on the mind)

gone by so fast and 7 months from now I will be done with nursing school!

It seems far, but I can see it in the distance and it feels so good. via

I love my yellow Ray Bans! They are perfect for the beach right now.

Just looking at the color makes me smile. I wasn't sure at first when I got them, but

I know I have been MIA for the past week. I have been so busy with finals and projects. Thanks to everyone who commented on the last Wedding Wednesday post! MK & I are pretty positive we will be going with PINK and NAVY! (:
mKw and I are super excited that we have booked our wedding photographer. She photographed our friend's wedding last summer and every picture is absolutely stunning! Since mKw and I have a break from school at the moment, we want to figure out the details regarding our engagement photo shoot. Recently I have been brainstorming ideas for outfits we can wear. So far I have come up with one of our two outfits. Coincidentally we want to wear pink and navy!

Wedding Wednesday

I always thought I knew exactly what I wanted for my wedding, but since MK proposed I have become so indecisive. I remember envisioning my wedding with lots of pink. Which would be an obvious guess by any of my family or friends. After looking at numerous color pallets I just can seem to decide & surprisingly not all of them include pink!

Possible Color Choices

Option 1- Pink & Green

With pink being my favorite color and green making it very Lilly like... I just love this option.

Option 2- Navy & Yellow

Some were surprised I am considering colors schemes that don't have pink. I just can't seem to rule it our just yet. The way the yellow pops on the navy just makes me smile.

Option 3- Pink & Navy

I starting thinking of this combination when the navy really started growing on me. I also get to use pink which would be such a typical color choice for me. MK also loves navy!

Option 4- Turquoise & Yellow

Very out of the ordinary for me. Again I like how the yellow really pops out. It just looks so great with the turquoise. Then the guys could wear a light grey suit which is MK's second choice.

Help any suggestions?

Recently, I have been totally occupied by school work. It has just been one project after another, all thrown together with exams and other school work. Ahhh... at least finals are coming up and I couldn't be more excited. Excited for finals??! I am just ready to get them over with, because after I finish the semester my future hubby and I are going on a road trip to South Carolina! We cannot wait to get up there. Last time I went to visit I toured an animal preserve with my mom and brother. I am really hoping mKw and I will have time to take the tour, since last time we only got to take a picture with a monkey. It was an amazing experience. I'll let some pics speak for themselves!

The Start of Something New

Some say, "Happy wife happy life." In my mKw's (my fiancé) case it is Preppy Wife Preppy Life! mKw and I have been together for over 6 years. After we got engaged this past November, naturally we started talking about what married life will be like. It came down to us realizing that a preppy wife means a preppy life. Embracing our already preppy lifestyles we are excited to get married and begin this new chapter in our lives.
